Volunteer Channel is all about making a positive impact close to home here in South Florida, and even far away. That's why we're excited to support 3 small education, sports, and environmental projects in Latin America too.
Niños del Callejón La Pancha
• 7 years providing food, education, clothing, medicine, medical care, and extracurricular
activities.
• 24 kids in precarious situation served.
• Adapted during the pandemic by hiring local teachers to improve academic performance.
• Success stories: Two girls enrolled in college—one in Veterinary School and the other in
Telematic Engineering.
• Future goal: Early education project initiation.
The 23 de Enero Soccer School
• 8 years serving kids in La Mata, Cabudare, Lara state.
• Volunteer Channel grew the school from 43 children (40 boys, 3 girls, aged 5-14) to a thriving
program with 144 athletes (ages 4-16) and a dedicated female category.
• We covered soccer field rent, provided training tools, clothes, and cleats with support from
Miami families.
• Success story: 2 girls signed for the state team.
Playa El Yaque After School
• 4 years functioning as an after-school program
• Provides homework support, environmental education, English classes, health and community
clean-up events.
• Serves 85 children in precarious situation.
• Unique Reward System: Academic excellence leads to Kite Surfing or Wind Surfing lessons.
• Future Goal: Finish the cafeteria to provide at least one nutritious meal a day.
